MBA Transport doesn’t just move equipment in the UK – the team has the capabilities to transport machinery of all sizes across Europe and beyond. A brilliant example of this was a recent project with Horizon Global.
Horizon Global is the number one designer, manufacturer and distributor of high-quality, custom-engineered towing and trailering equipment. The team recently required the assistance of MBA Transport to deliver and install a CO2 laser cutting system at its manufacturing site in Luneray, France.
After decommissioning and collecting the machine in the UK, the MBA Transport team unloaded the machine at its facility in Wetherby, where it was safely and securely stored.
Once the team at Horizon Global were ready for delivery of the CO2 laser cutting system, the MBA Transport team set to work again, this time utilising its DAF CF 460, flatbed 32-rigid truck to transport the machinery across Europe, before delivering it to its new home in France.
The MBA Transport team then spent a week correctly positioning the laser on-site, before building and assembling the equipment to get it up-and-running and ready for its first commission.
Gallito Ltd, a spray booth manufacturer based in Wetherby, approached MBA Transport following the decision to reposition its two-tonne press.
The machine was located in the company’s workshop, which has low ceilings, meaning the move had to be carried out taking height restrictions into consideration – limiting MBA Transport’s options.
After sending a team to review the space, MBA Transport decided the best approach for the job would be using two fork lift trucks to hold the machine at an angle, making it easier to manoeuvre around the facility. The press could then be relocated into its new position across the workshop without disrupting any other equipment or racking.
With so many other machines within the space, the repositioning was incredibly tight, but the project was carried out successfully and the machine was moved with no problems.
The relocation was performed so efficiently that Gallito Ltd was able to start up production again the very next day, experiencing no down time during the machine move process.
When suppliers of quality used sheet metalworking equipment, Machine Sales Ltd, called upon the experts at MBA Transport with a machine move query, the team was all ears. An eight-tonne press brake needed relocating from Scunthorpe to Glasgow on a specific date, and the job needed completing within just a week.
Having previously completed jobs with even tighter deadlines, the MBA Transport team set to work organising the machine move within the set timeframe.
Once in Glasgow, the team started by moving an existing machine in order to get to the press brake. Both the machines needed jacking and skating, which required a significant amount of manoeuvring to ensure everything ended in the right place.
Working with such large machinery demands high-level precision with several other machines causing limited space for movement. The intricacy of the job resulted in further pressure to deliver on time, and the equipment had to be loaded out of hours as not to disrupt production in the workshop.
The job was carried out on time, with no incidents and to the customer’s full satisfaction.
